Brian's Journey out of Chronic Hip Pain
Oct 20, 2021I had always been extremely active. Time that was not spent eating, sleeping, or working was typically spent in the gym, on the golf course, or on hiking trails with my girlfriend & dog.
So I found myself in a very unfamiliar and scary spot when seemingly out of nowhere, my body felt perpetually locked and on-fire. At my best, my hips and back were impossibly stiff.
At my worst, the pain extended into my groin & glutes, ran down the leg into my calves, and all I could do to manage was lie flat on the floor for hours. From the moment I woke up, to the moment I rested my head on my pillow at night, the pain and discomfort was with me.
X-rays and MRIs failed to reveal anything conclusive, and countless trips to the chiropractor and acupuncturist offered no long-term relief. The internet did not help either, insisting that my symptoms were in-line with a number of autoimmune diseases ranging from lupus to MS.
I was beginning to lose hope, and trying to cope with the idea that the active lifestyle that had become my identity, would have to be drastically modified, if not stopped altogether. “I’m just 30 years old.. How is this possible?”
The pain was taking over my life; effecting my sleep, effecting my concentration at work, and effecting my relationships by limiting the activities I could do with my girlfriend.
Before finally accepting a life of inactivity, I decided I needed to make sure that I exhausted every option. That’s when I found Maks. Based on the lack of relief from countless medical professionals, I was not optimistic Maks would be the answer, but I had nothing to lose… I could not have been more wrong.
On June 1, 2021, I met with Maks and shared my story & my symptoms. He listened carefully, and proceeded to work me through an extensive evaluation.
He then put me through the Happy Hips program. The program is fool proof. Number of of sets, reps, training days per week, and full-length video showing how to perform the exercises properly.
Maks was honest about expectations, sharing that the journey back to proper movement & function would be a long one.
On June 1st, I was a shell of myself, operating at around 25 - 30% of my normal self. By July 1st, simply by following the Happy Hips program, I was up to 50%.
I continued to follow the program. By August 1st, I was up to 60%.
As I write this on October 1st, I am back to 85% function. I still feel the stiffness & pain at times, but it no longer runs my life. I am enjoying walks with my girlfriend & dog. I am back in the gym 4 - 5 days a week, and golfing every weekend.
Maks has given me hope, and helped me climb out of a very dark hole. I know with his continued coaching, that I will get there. I recommend that anyone managing through chronic hip pain reach out to Maks and take on the Happy Hips program. It’s been life changing for me, and I can’t imagine where I’d be today without him.
